Opera holds a significant place in both designers’ collections, particularly in terms of the inspiration they draw from the revered female personas depicted in the lyrics-women animated with passion and fervour. Among the works they cherish most are Giuseppe Verdi’s “La Traviata” and “Attila”, as well as Pietro Mascagni’s “La Cavalleria Rusticana.” Notably, it is “La Cavalleria Rusticana” that has opened Dolce&Gabbana’s catwalks since 1984.

The macramé lace dress, adorned with a basket structure with a corset, a gold filigree crown and a tulle veil embellished with lace inserts, was chosen as the symbol of the exhibition “From the Heart to the Hands”. This masterpiece recalls the Madonna that dominates the top of the Duomo’s main spire, thus representing a tangible tribute to Dolce&Gabbana in Milan, where the designers create and tailor all the Alta Moda, Alta Sartoria and Alta Gioielleria collections.
