The Hôtel de la Marine in Place de la Concorde, the extraordinary monument-museum in the heart of Paris, formerly home to the Ministry of the Navy until 2015, hosts the Dolce&Gabbana Alta Moda show. The meeting of exclusive creations and the prestigious location gives life to a striking setting that enhances the synergy between these two worlds.

From Sicily to Paris

The concept of LES SICILIENNES by Dolce&Gabbana Alta Moda is inspired by the cultural and linguistic dialogue between Sicily and Paris, two places that have influenced each other over time while maintaining a strong and unmistakable connection. This relationship is exemplified by the passionate journey to Paris undertaken by Sicilian women, the protagonists of the story, and the allure that the Sicilian territory, with its unique, sensual, authentic, and timeless beauty, has always exerted on the French and the creations of Dolce&Gabbana Alta Moda.

The Collection: artistic inspirations and iconic themes

The collection showcased in the event takes inspiration from the opulence of the artistic movement born in Italy between the late 16th and early 17th centuries. Gold scroll embroideries and sinuous patterns illuminate the sartorial creations. The same sophisticated decorative elements are seamlessly reflected on the walls and ceilings of the Hôtel de la Marine, reinforcing the deep connection between LES SICILIENNES by Dolce&Gabbana Alta Moda and Paris.

Capes, corsets, tailored suits, lace gowns, coats, and ethereal veiled headdresses make up the iconic and distinctive part of the collection, immediately recognisable as part of the brand’s DNA.

Black: a multifaceted hue

The Dolce&Gabbana Alta Moda Collection is dominated by black, the emblem of Sicilian elegance, at once rigorous yet extravagant, chaste yet seductive. Black hides and uncovers, protects and beguiles, distances and attracts. Beyond its aesthetic significance, black also carries a sacred symbolism, deeply rooted in Sicily’s religious festivities.

From the colours of jewels

Alongside the solemnity of black, the colour palette shines with hues reminiscent of the most precious gemstones, an ode to the unique femininity of every woman. Emerald green, ruby red, and amethyst purple are designed to captivate and inspire, much like a Baroque masterpiece.

The Dolce&Gabbana Alta Moda guests enriched the event with their sophisticated elegance and meticulous attention to detail. From Monica Bellucci, wearing a lace overcoat Alta Sartoria with crystals and pearls, to Tim Burton in a classic black suit Sicilia cut; from Catherine Deneuve, whose look was illuminated by a Alta Gioielleria brooch and earrings with diamonds and amethysts, to Carla Bruni in a draped red satin dress, and Eva Herzigova in an exquisite black velvet corset gown.
