Neapolitan Filmmaker Pepe Russo takes on a visual journey around the island of Procida as we follow a love sick photographer searching for a mysterious woman.
Along with Ischia and Capri, Procida is one of the gems of the Mediterranean just outside the Gulf of Naples. Perhaps less well known that its sisters, Procida has an ancient history. This tiny island of just 4 kilometres squared (with a population of 10,000 souls) was originally settled by Greels in the 8th century BC, and then became a fashionable resort for the patrician Roman class during the Empire. The island, originally created by the eruption of four volcanoes, now dormant and submerged, offers stunning Mediterranean architecture, delicious food, an easy pace of life and unique vistas across the blue waters. The set for Torantore’s Il Postino and The Talented Mr. Ripley, Procida is also the location where Elsa Morante wrote one of her most celebrated novels: L’isola di Arturo in 1957.
Neapolitan Filmmaker Pepe Russo, inspired by the timeless beauty of Procida has created a short film which examines love at first sight.
A photographer heads to Procida to document the ancient Good Friday Procession, and while looking through his pictures, he notices an image of a beautiful woman, who he doesn’t remember seeing. Captivated by her, he begins searching high and low. His search for the mystery woman takes us on a visual journey through the sleepy island, with its craftsmen at work, its ancient houses, picturesque streets making us fall in love with a series of images just like our protagonist is captivated by the image of the woman.
