Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana and their guests sparkled on the red carpet of the most exclusive fashion party of the year: the Met Gala in New York.
On May 5, the Metropolitan Museum of Art will open its 2016 Costume Institute exhibition, “Manus x Machina,” curated by Andrew Bolton. The exhibition explores the relationship between the handmade and the machine-produced to showcase how the lines between artisanal and high tech are blurring. The show spans two centuries of fashion from Charles Frederick Worth, to 2015 runway looks.
As customary, the exhibition is preceeded on the “First Monday in May” with the MET Gala. Often referred to as the Oscars of the East Coast, the MET Gala unites the movers and shakers from the fashion world with celebrities and stylish VIPs.

Zoey Deutch chose an Alta Moda corset inlay gown in illusion tulle with gold embroidery, crystal and cross-stitch floral motifs and stylist Tabitha Simmons wore a Alta Moda gown in silk embroidered velvet with crystals and gold thread and trim. Coco Brandolini D’Adda wore a Alta Moda embroidered gown made with cross-stitched flowers and Sofia Sanchez de Betak a corset gown embroidered with sequins and gold lurex thread and a silk embroidered velvet cloak.
Zoe Saldana wore a Dolce&Gabbana Alta Moda bustier gown wrapped in tulle with a silk organza skirt embellished with multi-coloured feathers and Kate Bosworth also in Alta Moda, wore a gown in tulle with crystal embellishment, silk ribbon, and glass pearls.
The men on the other hand gave lessons in tailoring with Colin Farrell in a Dolce&Gabbana three-piece single-breasted inlaid shawl lapel tuxedo in black wool jacquard fabric, Lewis Hamilton in a three-piece double-breasted peak lapel tuxedo in ocean blue silk jacquard fabric. While Cary Fukunaga wore a three-piece single-breasted shawl lapel tuxedo in black wool moiré fabric, Marco Perego a three-piece single-breasted shawl lapel tuxedo in black wool and silk blend jacquard fabric and Michael Polish wore a three-piece double-breasted shawl lapel tuxedo in black wool and silk blend fabric.
